Wild betta care after arrival
What you should understand and do when your wild betta arrive from our farm.
Wild betta fish are betta fish that are specialized in shape and habits. Farmers and keepers should understand the nature of wild betta well before raising them.
- Color after moving: Betta fish color may fade when moving or changing the breeding environment. It takes about 5–15 days for the fish to adjust and the color will return to its original state.
- Warm–water fish: This betta is a tropical warm–water fish. You must use a heater when the weather is cold or room temperature is low.
- Very easily startled: Wild betta are very easily startled. When shocked, the fish color may disappear or become very dull. The color will return as before when the shock is gone and the fish feels safe again.
- Quiet environment: Wild bettas love peace and quiet, because in the wild they are very easy to catch. Keep them in a calm place without strong vibration or sudden movement around the tank.
- Indian almond leaves: To raise wild betta fish, you should add Indian almond leaves to the water. The leaves release tannins and other beneficial substances that help the fish feel more comfortable, mimicking their natural environment and often enhancing their colors.
• Float the bag and acclimate temperature slowly.
• Turn off strong lights for the first 24 hours.
• Use a lid – wild betta can jump.
• Start with small feeding after the fish is calm and active.
• Observe breathing and color every day during the first week.
Important note on fish color
Why the fish may look different between farm photos and your real tank.
The fish appears blue in the photos because we used a DSLR camera, which can sometimes distort the colors. The fish’s natural color is actually green. However, due to the way light passes through the DSLR lens and the adjustments the camera makes, the fish appears blue in the images. Please be aware that the true color of the fish is green.
In addition, monitor brightness, water color, background, and lighting in your tank can all change how the fish looks to your eyes. This is normal for wild betta and does not mean the fish is sick.
